Pragmatic Semiconductor’s founding CEO Scott White joins QuantWare as Chair of the Board

Company updates
Quantware and QuantrolOx partnership

QuantWare today announced that Scott White would join the company as non-executive Chair of the Board of Directors. QuantWare is a leading Quantum Processor company that develops VIO, a scaling platform that scales any qubit design to more than 1 million qubits in a single QPU. The addition of White to the QuantWare team marks a significant step in the strategic development of the company, as it starts introducing VIO to its products (fully packaged QPUs as well as foundry and packaging services) to rapidly scale the capabilities of its global customer base.

Scott White is an exceptionally successful serial entrepreneur, having founded 6 technology companies with multiple successful exits. He was a co-founder and board director at computer vision-based AI company Cortexica, acquired by Zebra Technologies, and founder and CEO at Azea Networks, which he grew from concept to 8 figure sales levels before acquisition. He is an adviser at several venture investors, and a member of the UK Government's Semiconductor Advisory Panel. He was named UK Deep Tech Entrepreneur of the Year in 2022 and a Lifetime Fellow of the Bessemer Society in 2023.

In 2010, Scott White founded Pragmatic Semiconductor. Pragmatic is a world leader in flexible electronics. Under White’s leadership as CEO and later as Executive Director, Pragmatic built the UK’s first ever state-of-the-art 300mm wafer fab and grew to over 300 people. Scott White has raised more than $400 million for Pragmatic, including the largest ever European semiconductor venture round of more than $240 million.

“I am beyond delighted that Scott is joining our Board,” said Matthijs Rijlaarsdam, CEO of QuantWare. “His very rare experience in building a semiconductor technology platform business from the ground up is a key strategic asset to our company as we scale QuantWare – and he’s fantastic to work with.”

“Quantum computing will be a gigantic market once it reaches utility scale,” said Scott White, “and QuantWare’s unique VIO technology will unlock and accelerate the scaling to the necessary system sizes. I’m incredibly excited to join QuantWare at this pivotal moment, as the company starts rolling out VIO to its global customer base.”
