QuantWare Wins 2026 Gold Edison Award

Selected from thousands of global nominations, QuantWare recognized in High-Density Computing Infrastructure category for its Tenor-D64 QPU

Delft, The Netherlands — April 17, 2026 // QuantWare, the world’s highest-volume supplier of commercial quantum processing units, today announced its achievement in winning the 2026 Gold Edison Award for High-Density Computing Infrastructure. The award recognized QuantWare’s Tenor-D64 for combining high performance with integration-ready design and commercial accessibility to accelerate scalable quantum computing.

The award-winning 64-qubit Tenor QPU is the world’s largest commercially available quantum processor, for on-prem deployment. Currently deployed at the University of Naples, the advancement is powering Italy’s largest quantum computer. Following the release of the 64-qubit Tenor QPU in 2025, QuantWare also recently launched VIO-40K, the QPU architecture that will deliver the world’s first 10,000 qubit QPUs in 2028 and is set to expand its production capacity with the construction of its upcoming KiloFab in Delft.

“The Edison Awards’ recognition of QuantWare’s Tenor QPU is an important milestone for our team and reflects how rapidly progress is accelerating across the quantum industry,” said Matt Rijlaarsdam, CEO of QuantWare. “We are transitioning from those foundational closed systems to modular, open architectures. Our Tenor QPU was built as part of our Quantum Open Architecture (QOA) model, reducing the time and capital required for businesses to deploy world-class quantum computers. As we continue our mission to hyperscale high-performance quantum processors, it’s encouraging to see our innovation and approach resonating with industry leaders.”

Now in its 39th year, the prestigious Edison Awards recognizes the world’s most impactful innovations and bold ideas that are shaping tomorrow’s industries. Joining a distinguished group of global innovators and winners, including Dell, HP Inc., and Samsung, QuantWare was selected from thousands of submissions worldwide. Every year, the finalists are evaluated by the Edison Awards Steering Committee and an independent panel of senior scientists, engineers, designers, and business leaders based on concept, value, and impact of their breakthrough innovations.

“QuantWare’s Tenor QPU stood out in the High-Density Computing Infrastructure category for its technical sophistication and clear emphasis on scalable system design,” said Frank Bonafilia, Executive Director of the Edison Awards. “The committee and panel were particularly impressed by Tenor D-64 for its real-word deployment, empowering other players in the quantum industry to scale their innovations.”

QuantWare was declared as the winner of the Gold award at the Edison Awards gala in Fort Myers, Florida, on 16 April 2026.
